Fiesta de Mayo… Ole!

I had the coolest opportunity last Thursday evening…

I was invited to come and capture the Community Nurse Health Association of LaGrange’s spring fundraiser, the “Fiesta de Mayo”. What a fiesta! This is an amazing organization that provides healthcare and support to low-income families in Chicago’s western suburbs, and I was so honored to be a part of their big evening! I could go on and on, but the bottom line is… this party was a blast, and you won’t want to miss it next year! It was so inspiring to see the community of LaGrange come together to benefit this organization, which, in turn, benefits the community of LaGrange. Restaurants all over downtown LaGrange offered food and drinks to those who participated in the event… sort of like a “Taste of LaGrange”. If I hadn’t been photographing, there’s no doubt that I would have been completely stuffed by the evening’s end! Enjoy the pictures… there are many more to come for those who attended!

You can see this was an amazing event… what a great opportunity to support a fantastic local organization and have a blast of an evening, all at the same time!

What an Honor…

Have I mentioned how much I love my mom? Completely unrelated to Mother’s Day next week, I just have to say that my mom is one of the sweetest, most optimistic people in the world… A few weeks ago, as I pulled up to her house, she was outside standing in the driveway waiting for me. “Shhhhh…” she was saying. “A robin made her nest in the wreath by the door!” Sure enough, there was a beautiful nest and a lovely little robin parked right next to the door that everyone uses. My first thought? Birds can be so stupid. Then my mom said, “I am so honored! Right in my wreath!” And that, my dear readers, is why I love my mom.

On a side-note… check out that top egg! I returned a few days ago with my camera just in the nick of time! That chick was out 15 minutes later. : )

Rachel Wassink - your mom continues to amaze me each week at church, just like you do with your photography. You both are so wonderful

Little “G”… All Boy!

Yesterday afternoon I was up in Glenview working with the greatest little guy… he was two years old, full of energy, and super fun! On top of all these great qualities, little “G” knew his sports… all of them! At one point during our shoot, he dumped out his ball basket and proceeded to tell me the specific names of each ball (football, baseball, basketball, etc…)! Not bad for a two-year-old!

We headed to the park after a few indoor shots to let him run around and just be himself. He kept his mom and I running! I couldn’t help but think, in the midst of it all, what a blessed person I am to chase around happy little kids at the park as my job. Ok, enough rambling… on to the sneak peek!

Sweet Boys…

Yesterday was a travel day for me! My first session was in Joliet with the sweetest family! They have two little boys… “N” is two, and little “L” is only four months old. They were both such happy campers, and the shoot went so well! Can’t wait to show you the rest, “A” family!

Meet little “N”:
