Bunny and LAMB Day!!! | Chicago Children’s Photographer

update

All of the bunny session days have filled, and only two lamb sessions are left!  Because of the huge response, we’ve decided to offer additional bunny sessions with Cilantro on Sunday March 3rd, which are already filling up fast! : )  If you want one of the remaining sessions, shoot us an e-mail at amy@amytripplephotography.com and let us know!

This spring we will be hosting our third annual “Bunny Day”, but you might want to sit down before you read about this year’s “add-on”.  Hehe. : )

We are beyond excited to announce that we’ll be hosting TWO spring mini-session days on the weekend of March 9th and 10th 3rd. One of the days, of course, will be our annual “Bunny Day”, in which babies and children become instantly *more* adorable when placed next to our seriously perfect lop-eared bunny, Cilantro.  This bunny seems to know that he earns a year’s worth of keep at the Tripple house each year by turning on the cheese on this special day, and he honestly amazes me with his ridiculous cuteness.  It’s over-the-top, really. ; )

We are also BEYOND excited to announce that (this is the part that you’ll want to be sitting for…) we will be having a pair of six-week-old bottle-fed lambs to the studio for a very limited number of sessions as well!  No, I am not joking.  I’m sure there’s a more professional way to convey my excitement, but aaauuuuggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!  I basically squeal each time I think of it!  Our dear friends in Wisconsin who own a sheep farm will be bringing down these little twinsies for our photographic pleasure on March 9th.  And I will tell you… it does NOT get any better than that! : )

So here are the details… please take a moment to read them carefully, because we’re pretty sure these sessions are going to book up FAST and we want to be sure you have all the information you need!

Such Cute Valentines : ) Chicago Children’s Photographer

So, my daughter’s valentines came in the mail today… OH MY GOODNESS they are so cute!!! : )

I’m going to brag on her for a minute. She wanted to design them HERSELF, and since designing happens to be one of my very favorite things, it was hard to let it go. But I rose above the ueber -controlling moment and let her come up with her valentines this year.  I helped with fonts, but the layout, graphic choices, and design… that was her.  And I gotta say… I was impressed!

She wanted to put a joke on the back.  With the answer in code.  Such a fun idea!

And no, I will not tell you the answer.  You have to figure it out, hehe. : )

Now onto real pictures : )

The mom in this family has come to quite a few classes and has quite an eye for photography herself. However, she and I end up in the very same predicament when it comes time for photos of our OWN families… it’s not possible to successfully capture your family portraits without another photographer behind the camera.  But wait, you ask!  What about tripods, timers, & remotes?!?!?

Go for it.  But have a glass of wine ready, because you will need it to calm down when it’s over.  Don’t ask me how I know. ; )

Aren’t they sweet?

We started playing around a little at the end.  How gorgeous is this girl?!?

And guess what?  She’s even sweeter than she is beautiful.  How cool is that?

A Warm Summer Breeze | Chicago Baby Photographer

Hi. : )

First of all, I just received word of a robin sighting… YAY!  Thanks for the report, Diane!!!  A few years ago I did a robin count here on the blog, because I always count the first one-hundred robins of spring.  We need to do that again this year.

Spring IS coming.  I know it’s hard to believe, but keep your chins up, peeps!  We’ll be there before we know it!  I’ve been letting myself dream, just a bit, about the things I’ll do this summer.  My list of “must-do’s” is always unrealistic in length, but I’m not really going for realism anyway, right?  Here’s my summer list (straight from my treasure chest of hopes and dreams!):

  • Hang in the hammock with a magazine
  • Plant another garden (last year was our first one and it was soooo fun!).  This year, I want to plant a bazillion tomato plants, more peppers, and more squash (acorn especially… yummo!)
  • Take walks at Maple Grove (one of my favorite spots, any time of year!)
  • Head to Cantigny with the kids (and bring a picnic!)
  • Enjoy a glass of wine with Jonathan on the back deck
  • Join a pool (it will be our first year ever to do that, I’m embarrassed to say!)
  • Go jogging with my six-year-old (he’s crazy fast so I’ll have to start training now to keep up!)
  • Open all the windows and feel the warm breeze!

Just typing the words “warm breeze” makes me smile!  You?  When life’s doing it’s best to kick your butt, close your eyes and think of a warm summer breeze.  It’s workin’ for me! : )

Ok… pictures!  This sweet mom brought her beautiful little girl to the studio the other day.  I had such a great time photographing them.  Such a sweet baby!  The further I get from having babies, the more I think I LOVE it when they come in for pictures.  They’re so teeny, sweet, squeezable… perfect!

Isn’t she a love?

Seasonal Pricing and Weddings… Chicago Family Photographer

Hey guys!  Jonathan and I have been doing a bit of planning as we look ahead into 2013, and wanted to give you a heads-up about one pricing change we’ll be making…

In the past, I’ve always taken on quite a few more sessions in the fall to make up for the slower seasons of January and February.  Now that we know what we’re facing with Jonathan’s health, however, we can see that extra sessions next fall (2013) just won’t be a possibility.  We’ve decided to move to a seasonal pricing structure; sessions in September, October, November, and December will cost more than the other seasons to match the demand we experience each year.  Also… we’ve changed the length of sweetie sessions from 25 minutes to 45 minutes… yay!

Having said that, I’d love to put in a little plug for spring / summer pictures… they are my FAVORITES because I love having the green of the trees and grass on my wall all through the year.  From what I can gather, a lot of families tend to avoid summer sessions because there’s always a chance that it will be hot… it’s one of our most common scheduling questions.  I thought it would be worth mentioning here that we are very flexible in the summer… if you’re too hot, then I’m too hot, and I’m always more than happy to reschedule for a cooler day should a head wave come upon us. ; )

I have a limited number of sessions that I offer each month, and the spring and summer dates have already begun to fill, so I wanted to make you all aware of the change while there were still sessions available during those months.  The pricing on the blog is now updated… email us if you’d like to grab one of the remaining spring / summer sessions and we’ll find a date and a time that works for you!

………………………………………………………..

On a separate note… I had the honor of doing a few weddings in 2012 and I must admit – I really loved each one!  I did quite a few weddings in my earlier years, then put them aside for awhile to focus on building the baby/child/family side of the business.  But I do so love weddings.  I must confide, also, that I was tickled pink with the images from the two I photographed last year (can I say that?!?).  I’ve decided to dip my toes back into the world of wedding photography by taking on two weddings this summer.  I wanted to announce my plans here because so many couples are in the planning stages right now and I’d love for them to know I’m available. : )  Couples can e-mail us for details and a link to a private gallery of my wedding work.

Below are a few of the images from Brad and Melissa’s wedding in December.  This pair was, in a word, stunning.  I think you’ll agree! : )
