Over the past four years, Amy has photographed thousands of portrait sessions, capturing over half-a-million images.  She’s developed strong, authentic relationships with her clients which, in turn, have lead to an unusually high demand throughout Chicagoland and beyond.  Her wait list has ranged from twenty to over a hundred eager families at any given time, and entire seasons of her available portrait sessions have been known to book completely in a matter of minutes.  Amy’s clients have a very high satisfaction rate and continue to rave about their experiences with her.

Amy shoots with some of the finest equipment digital photography has to offer.  Armed with Nikon’s amazing D700 and a purposeful assortment of tack-sharp Nikon prime lenses, the quality of Amy’s work is top-notch.  Not only can she put her camera to use as a seasoned professional; she knows the ins-and-outs of DSLRs so thoroughly that she teaches three levels of DSLR classes to parents!  On location, Amy uses what light is available to create beautiful, natural portraits.  In her studio, she utilizes continuous lighting when necessary by skillfully employing large soft boxes.  She does not use flash on any occasion, and prefers to light her subjects naturally whenever possible.

Amy’s one-of-a-kind, natural light portrait studio is as fun and darling as her work.  Each room of her restored 1850′s farmhouse holds sweet and unique settings for babies, children, and families; a beautiful nursery, a clean, fresh bedroom, and a brightly-lit sunroom are just a few of the spaces Amy loves to use when photographing families.  The gentle, bright decor and family-friendly environment lends itself to happy, relaxed parents and children; the result is a gallery full of natural, beautiful images that reflect who your family truly is.  Amy’s studio is nestled in the heart of downtown Downers Grove and is located within a block of some of her favorite outdoor locations.  The parking lot in the back, the fully-stocked changing table, a variety of fun and classic toys, and a private room for outfit changes are just a few of the amenities that make Amy’s studio a wonderful choice for your session’s location!

One of the major differences between photographers lies in their ability to edit images in industry-standard processing software (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc…).  Amy’s vast experience and love of all things “digital” has led her to a clean, simple, and fresh editing style that leaves each image looking amazing but never over-processed.  Her black-and-white conversions are each checked for perfect tone and contrast and are included in your final gallery alongside the corresponding color version.  Headswaps, distraction elimination, blemish removal, skin smoothing, and subtle “body shaping” are all skills that Amy utilizes regularly to create a gallery of images you’ll be proud to display.  Photographers nation-wide have approached Amy for guidance and mentoring on the subject of digital editing… additionally, her monthly editing classes have been attended by photographers from the entire Chicagoland area as well as Minnesota, Indiana, Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Alabama.

As a mom of three wild, crazy, and beautiful children, Amy is keenly aware of the anticipation, nervousness, and excitement parents feel when preparing for their portrait session.  What if the weather works against us?  What if my child behaves badly?  Does Amy know the difference between a “real” smile and my child’s camera cheese?  What if our baby skips her nap on the day of the session?  Will the pictures be worth the money we’re spending?
